I thought DEK was based on "camdaki kiz". Am i wrong?
Could be 100% wrong but if they are both based on the same book i wonder how they are going to be different. Just a little bit confused.
This book was everywhere when I went to visit Istanbul in December now I wish I bought it but unfortunately my reading in Turkish is horrible 😅
Gülseren Budayıcıoğlu's books have been very popular within in the Turkish Dizi industry. For example I know that DEK is based of one of her books so is Kirimiz oda I only know of 2 but there could be more.

I was confused too but I heard that the book has 2 different stories, and the book is more focused on the Nalan's story.

Stunning. She looks like a model on the cover of a magazine.

I'm eager to watch this. I'm not familiar at all with the books but just the overview is interesting. Plus I've seen the main actress in other shows and she's fantastic.

The Blame Game: Toxic parenting

Mother and daughter relationships can be filled with emotional turbulence; on a good day. But boy Nalan's mom is very toxic. While we all may fight with our moms sometimes, there are some relationships that get thrown more curveballs, making them ripe with new layers of complication this is the very issue with Nalan's relationship with her grandmom aka mom.

I feel so bad for Nalan because you can see just how bad she struggles with the dichotomy of her mother being her guardian and her worst enemy at the same time.

I think the writer is doing an honest job by address the toxicity of family structures. These reciprocal moments witnessed in the show are what psychologists refer to as “the cycle of toxic parenting” — and it is extremely difficult to escape.

So, her mother has been making her watch her weight for YEARS?! Even putting her in a corset as a CHILD? Sickening!!!!:cry::mad:

A key tactic of the toxic mother is to deflect blame (or criticism, when blame cannot be conjured) onto her child, thereby absolving herself of any accountability. InCamdaki Kız, we’re introduced to many scenes where Nalan's mom is doing the blaming and controlling game constantly.

OMG! Nalan has a very unhealthy relationship with your mom. I despise Nalan's mom so much.
An emotionally abusive mom who constantly puts Nalan down, shames and humiliates her, especially in front of others. Belittles Nalan's accomplishments, dreams, making her feel like she is wrong, and the demon mom is right.

There is are many similarities between Nalan's life and Princess Dianna's... Even look at Nalan's costume they resemble Diana's and other members of the British royal family
  1. The Camdaki Kiz strongly hints that Sedat has romantically involved with Jana; an older married woman with kids, his soon-to-be ex-girlfriend. Similar to Sedat, Prince Charles gave Camilla up and married Diana. The Girl in the Glass series, which is very similar to the love triangle between Princess Diana, Prince Charles and Camilla

  1. Princess Diana had difficult personal trials during the years of her childhood, and marriage to Charles, alluding to mental health challenges and depicting her experience with bulimia. Nalan's mom's obsession riddled with abuse with Nalanand his constant distrust of her daughter is so worrisome.
  2. Both Nalan and Diana Spencer have some kind of eating disorder and depression.
  3. Prince Charles and Princess Diana's courtship moved quickly. Like what we see with Nalan and Sedat
  4. Diana had 2 sons and Nalan wants 2 daughter's in the near future.
The list can go on... I love Princess Diana so much and cherish the superb acting in Camdaki Kiz! As it was mentioned, Camdaki Kiz Nolan is definitely the Turkish PrIncess Diana.
